Catogory : Announcements
The head of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Mustafa Sannallah, announced today the opening of a procurement office in Houston, Texas, to support the Foundation’s efforts to restore production capacity.
“The Houston office will put US-based companies with world-class equipment, technology and oilfield services at the center of our procurement strategy,” commented the chairman. “This office will also put us at the heart of the oil industry in the United States to keep pace with the development of the oil industry. This is an important strategic decision for us and no one should underestimate its importance.”
“The United States banned the illegal export of crude oil by Ibrahim al-Jadran and his criminal network in March 2014. When things were at stake, the United States really proved to be the guarantor of the integrity of the NOC entity and of Libya’s unity. Protecting the oil industry in Libya against closures. ”
It is noteworthy that the Libyan oil sector needs investments in the range of 20 billion dollars in the next three years to maintain and repair damage to infrastructure and to increase production.
Speaking at the Transatlantic Economic Forum hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce and the Johns Hopkins University for Advanced International Studies earlier this week, God created the major threats to governance and security that must be addressed if Libya’s natural resources help unite and stabilize the country. .
“The situation in Libya is reformable. We are now focusing on achievable goals, such as harnessing the capabilities of the National Oil Corporation and other state agencies and institutions to counter closures, intensifying anti-smuggling efforts, and reforming the oil installations guard facility,” he said. And finally we are working to secure sufficient investments to produce Libyan oil, and that is the most important thing because the Libyan people are totally dependent on that. ”
“These goals support the UN plan of action and the Windsor principles we agreed last month, the most important of which is that the exploitation of oil and gas resources in Libya should benefit all the Libyan people, regardless of where they are.
When I meet US manufacturers and suppliers, I will always insist on designing smart local content, environmental protection projects and community sustainable development projects – and it is particularly important that foreign businesses in Libya provide local economic opportunities. ”
“We hope to achieve an increase in production over the next year, improve security to reduce the cut-off rate of production, and secure new investments,” said Sinallah. “We hope that a political solution will be reached and that the new oil law will be passed. 2018 is to make progress. ”
During his meetings in Washington, Sinallah met with Senator Christopher Murphy, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, senior officials of the National Security Council, the State Department, the Department of Energy and the Ministry of Commerce.
